PTO will conduct its Fall Used Uniform Sale on October 31 (Fri) from 7:30am - 9am. Please consider signing-up to volunteer below. Come for used uniforms; stay for Mass!

To learn about Diocesan high schools, 6th - 8th grade families are encouraged to attend one of their open houses. Below are the dates, links to apply or shadow, etc.

Class Picture Day is November 4 (Tue). Students must be in full Winter uniform. (Middle Schoolers should wear their uniform shoes, but bring P.E. shoes for gym.) Victor O'Neill Studios is charging $17 per picture. There is a link to order and POC below.

PTO is hosting a screening of "Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age" on November 6 (Thr) at 6:30pm in Burke Hall (Cathedral's basement) for parents and teachers.  This Elementary School version of the documentary looks at the struggles parents are facing with social media, video games, internet addiction, and the impact of screen time on children’s development.  The film offers thoughtful insights from parenting experts, neuroscientists, and the students themselves, providing valuable strategies for navigating the digital world in a healthy way.  The screening will be followed by a discussion where families and faculty can share experiences and discuss strategies.

Veterans and Gold Star Family members are invited to STM's 8am flag raising on Nov 10 (Mon) and follow-on coffee and pastries in the cafeteria. Those on active duty are encouraged to wear uniforms. All students can wear purple or military sweatshirts (e.g., "ARMY", "Go Navy", "U.S.M.C.", "Air Force", "USCG", "SPACE FORCE") or purple accessories (e.g., earrings, headbands, wristbands, bracelets) WITH their uniform. This is not an out-of-uniform day (OUD). Below is also a link to discounts and deals for veterans on Veterans Day (Nov 11). November 10 is also the Marine Corps's 250th birthday, so Semper Fidelis! (Latin for: Always Faithful)

Bishop Ireton High School, which has one of the premier high school theater programs in the area, performs Jane Austen's "Emma" starting November 14 (Fri) for 2 weekends. Play summary: the clever, but meddlesome Emma Woodhouse believes she is a master matchmaker - for everyone but herself. The beautiful, rich, and confident young woman gleefully interferes in her neighbors' love lives, causing delightful social chaos. Show times and links with additional info are below.

As part of the Diocesan Week of Service, the Cathedral is hosting a Drive 'n Donate food drive on November 15 (Sat) to benefit the Lucy Food Project. Please bring cans of food and other nonperishable items between 3pm-4pm. With 1 in 8 Americans on SNAP and food insecurity being an issue in the DMV, a great answer to "WWJD" could be to donate a bag of food. Thank you.

On November 21, 22, and 23 (Fri-Sun) step through the wardrobe into the magical land of Narnia at Bishop O'Connell High School's production of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". The Deep Magic comes alive on stage in this immersive adaptation of C.S. Lewis's classic Christian allegory. Travel from the lamppost to the Stone Table to Cair Paravel with familiar characters like Lucy (played by STM Alum "Ellie" Rimicci during matinees), Mr. Tumnus, and Aslan himself.
