Extended Day

The Extended Day Program at St. Thomas More Cathedral School provides high quality child care administered by a caring staff before and after school. The program is available for students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. STM Extended Day opens at 7:00 A.M., closes while the students are in school, reopens at 3:15 P.M. after school is dismissed, and closes at 6:15 P.M.

Our Extended Day program has implemented a new contactless attendance system through Procare.  This new system will allow registered families to check-out from Extended Day by using the Procare Connect Childcare App on their mobile device. After you complete your registration, you will receive detailed instructions on how to create your Procare Connect account.  Please note that you will continue to be billed for your Extended Day usage on a bi-weekly basis through your FACTS account.

We are excited to welcome your child(ren) back to STM's Kindergarten – 8th Grade Extended Day Program (please note PreK is a separate program for which a different registration process has already been completed, therefore you do not need to complete this registration process).  In order to adhere to current health department and licensing guidelines, all students must be registered for morning and/or afternoon Extended Day in advance. We are pleased to announce that our maximum capacity for afternoon Extended Day has increased to 120.  Registration is on a first come first served basis. Once there are 120 registered students, additional students will be placed on a waitlist. Families will be contacted via email if they have been placed on the waitlist.  We continue to ask that families register for Extended Day only if they will be using this service on a consistent and routine basis. This will help to ensure that families who need this service regularly will have space available. 

 

We are excited to announce a rate decrease for Extended Day even as we continue to follow CDC and Virginia Department of Education guidelines to maintain cohorts in Extended Day. Our new lowered rates are as follows:

  • Registration Fee is $50 per student and must be paid at the time of registration via the attached link.
  • Services will be billed to your FACTS account according to the schedule below: 
  • 1 child - $9.00 per hour or any portion of an hour
  • 2 children - $16.00 per hour or any portion of an hour
  • 3 children - $23.00 per hour or any portion of an hour
  • 4 children - $30.00 per hour or any portion of an hour

 

Under current CDC/VDOE guidelines and given our constraints on space and resources, we will not be able to accommodate drop-in Extended Day students.  Any child who is not registered for the afternoon Extended Day Program, and is not picked up at dismissal will not be checked into Extended Day and the family’s FACTS account will be charged $5 per minute/per child.

To reiterate:  When maximum capacity in the afternoon Extended Day program is achieved, you will receive an email stating you are on a waitlist. If you do not receive an email about being on the waitlist, your child/ren are registered for Extended Day. Before the first day of school, registered families will receive a detailed email with instructions on how to download and input information into the Procare App. 

 

Payment

Registration Fee is $50 per student and must be paid at the time of registration via the attached link. Services will be billed to your FACTS account at an hourly rate or any portion of an hour, per child. Extended Day charges are billed in FACTS bimonthly on the 15th and 30th of each month for the preceding two weeks’ usage.  All accounts are due and payable upon receipt. Payments received beyond the due date may be assessed a late fee of either $10.00 or 10% of the total past due, whichever is greater. Lack of payment or consistently delinquent payments may result in suspension of services or dismissal from the program.

 

Pick-Up & Late Pick-Up Policies

Orderly and prompt pick-up of students from Extended Day is a condition of participation in the program. In the event of an emergency or if there is a change to the student’s normal pick-up arrangement (i.e., the student is to go home with another family), please notify the Extended Day and school offices via email in advance.

Given our constraints on space and resources, we will no longer be able to accommodate drop-in Extended Day students. Any child who is not registered for the Extended Day Program, and is not picked up at dismissal will not be checked into Extended Day and the family's FACTS account will be charged $5 per minute/per child. If a family is late in picking up their student(s) in excess of three times, a conference will be required with the Principal. Further tardiness may result in denial of services or dismissal from the program.

While our Pre-K Aftercare program is operated separately from our K through 8 Extended Day program, any students not picked up from Pre-K Aftercare by the 6:00 P.M. close time will be sent to K through 8 Extended Day. A late fee of $5.00/minute will be assessed per Pre-K student for pick-ups made after 6:00 P.M. If a family is late in picking up their Pre-K student in excess of three times, a conference with the Principal will be required. Further tardiness may result in denial of services.
