529s, which are accounts that grow tax-exempt as long as withdrawals are spent on education, can also be used for Kindergarten - 12th grade expenses (in addition to their traditional use for college). Below is information how families can use 529s and deduct the amount spent on Catholic school on their Virginia taxes for your consideration and to discuss with your tax preparer.

Santa will join us December 6th (Sat) at 9am for pictures, crafts, breakfast, and MORE! Please register, as spots are limited. We are still seeking 3 volunteers to set up the night before. Weston C., a STM 7th grader, will host a Marine Corps Toys for Tots collection point there from 9am - 11am. Please consider bringing new, unwrapped toys to donate. Toys may also be dropped off at Extended Day at or after pick up on Dec 5 (Fri). Spots for pictures with Santa are all taken. Additional info is below.

Our PTO and Lebanese Taverna Restaurant have partnered for a STM fundraiser on December 11 (Thr). Families can order food from the link below by Dec 10 (Wed) by 5pm and pick it up the next day at the Lebanese Taverna truck at STM between 2:45pm - 3:30pm. The link to order and admin notes are below. (Reminder: STM's Band will perform a concert via Zoom from 4:30pm - 8:30pm, if you are looking for some accompaniment with your food.)

Student Council is conducting a "Jeans for Jesus" Out of Uniform Day (OUD) fundraiser on December 11 (Thr). Students who want to participate should bring in $2 in cash (or $5 per family). No coins, please. Teachers will keep a spreadsheet of who paid; those who do not participate will wear the winter uniform. All proceeds will go to Catholic Charities. Thank you.

STM's award-winning Band will perform a virtual concert on December 11 (Thr) from 4:30pm - 8:30pm via Zoom. Come and go as your schedule allows. If you want to cheer on your classmates' solo, some calming music while doing homework, or classical music while you eat Lebanese Taverna, the links to dial-in and POC are below.

Students looking for volunteer hours or families looking to give back, may want to volunteer at the link below to lay wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery on December 13 (Sat) at 8am.

The Cathedral choir and STM's choir will conduct a joint Christmas concert on December 14 (Sun) from 3:30pm - 5pm at the Cathedral. There will a reception afterwards in Burke Hall. All are welcome!

STM will perform its Nativity Play on December 15 (Mon) at 7pm in the Cathedral. Schedule is below.

Student Council and 8th grade are hosting a Christmas Bazaar (a.k.a. Santa's Workshop) on December 18 (Thr). PreK - 5th Graders may bring in $1 per family member (including themselves) to shop for items. Between now and then ALL families are invited to donate new or gently used items your children have outgrown to be sold: toys, books, jewelry, etc. by December 15 (Mon). Please do not donate clothes or non-school-appropriate items.
