STM's Band Director (Mr. Barry Ward) will host an Info Session during school for 4th - 8th graders on 11 Sep (Thr). He will also go to each 4th and 5th grade that day to give instrument demonstrations. The Info and Registration Session for parents is also on 11 Sep (Thr) at 6:45pm. Join us on 25 Sep (Fri) at Laurel Hill Golf Club for a day on the greens while we raise money for a new playground. Shotgun start at 9:30am. Adults seeking to enter the Catholic Church, catch up on sacraments, or learn about the Faith are invited to join the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). Monday classes at 7pm are starting now. Next class: 15 Sep (Mon). Participants can accomplish Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation in 12-24 months, depending on their attendance and their own our faith walk. Our librarian selected "Wish" by Barbara O'Connor as this year's "One School, One Book" choice. This program allows all STM students to read the book from 16 Sep - 16 Oct. This builds community throughout the school, especially for new students, and fosters the love of reading. All 5th-8th graders will receive a copy and the youngest child PreK - 4th grade will get an additional copy. The librarian will coordinate a variety of activities over the next several weeks: questions in morning announcements, classroom discussions, and other challenges. It is difficult to find a book appropriate for parents to read to little children but still entertain middle schoolers, but this book looks a great choice! The Race for Education 2025 (RFE25) is fundraising for a new playground! Be an early bird and activate your Pledgestar family page by 15 Sept (Mon). You could win a $50 Starbucks gift card! The Cathedral and STM are hosting Fall Fest 4 Oct (Sat) from 12pm - 3pm in STM's parking area and new grass field. Come for all-you-can-eat food, games, beer & wine ($5 each), fellowship with other STM families, Knight of Columbus cornhole tournament with PRIZES, 50-50 raffle, inflatable obstacle course, and DUNK TANK! Entrance prices are only $20 a family or $10 a person. (50-50 raffle and dunk tank tickets are separate.) Links to volunteer or purchase tickets are below.

Registration is open for D.C. Music Academy's (DCMA) year-long program for 2nd - 8th graders for: Viola, Cello, Bass, Violin, and Guitar. DCMA is a great option for all students, but especially 2nd and 3rd Graders with STM's award-winning band not starting until 4th grade. A link to register, tentative dates, a flyer, POC, and an article discussing the correlation between music and grades are below. Parent Info Night is 9 Sep (Tue) from 6-8pm.
