Additional Information:

I am originally from Indiana and consider myself a proud Hoosier – even though I have now lived in Virginia much longer than I lived in Indiana.  I grew up on a farm and both of my parents were teachers.  In college, I majored in history and political science and minored in math and sociology.

Teaching is actually my second profession – I worked in Administration at the Brookings Institution from 1982 until 1989.  I have two adult children and I stayed home with them for several years.  I started substituting at STM when my son was in kindergarten and my daughter was in the second grade.  Both of my children, in addition to my husband, are proud graduates of St. Thomas More and Bishop O’Connell High School.

In 2001, I started working part-time at STM teaching algebra and being the Washington, D.C., Title I teacher.  The next school year (2002-2003), I became a full-time teacher with a sixth grade homeroom.  I am currently the middle school department head and still happily have a sixth grade homeroom.

My hobbies include reading (especially mysteries), cooking, crafting (sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc.), and playing card and board games with my family and friends.  I like to attend sporting events when possible – especially CYO basketball games that my middle school students are competing in.  I also love traveling – which doesn’t happen as often as I wish it would!

I feel very blessed to have been a part of St. Thomas More Cathedral’s community for over 20 years and I can’t imagine working anywhere else!
