Welcome to 3rd Grade!


I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! We are going to learn a lot this year. In Religion, we will grow a deeper understanding of the Church as a community of faith to which he/she belongs by virtue of Baptism. In Reading Language Arts, we will increase reading comprehension and writing skills through daily practice in the classroom. Students will use developmentally appropriate materials to show growth in reading and writing. In Science, we will increase their understanding of Scientific Investigation including planning and investigating through experiments. We will investigate and understand the characteristics and interactions of moving objects and will be able to identify simple and compound machines and their uses. investigate and understand the major components of soil, its origin, and its importance to plants and animals including humans. The students will investigate and understand the water cycle and its relationship to life on Earth, investigate the natural events and human influences that can affect the survival of species. Finally, in Social Studies, students will be introduced to U.S. geography and national government. They will learn geography skills and develop map skills. Students will study the different regions and 50 states of the United States.
