St. Thomas More Youth Choir

The St. Thomas More Youth Choir offers students the opportunity to grow in faith, develop their musical talents, and serve the Cathedral community through sacred music. In addition to leading music at Cathedral liturgies, the choir has performed at prestigious venues including the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Georgetown University, Nationals Park, and Capital One Arena.

 

Eligibility

Youth Choir is open to students in Grades 3–8 who are either enrolled at St. Thomas More Cathedral School or registered parishioners of the Cathedral. Membership is limited.

 

Rehearsals

  • Wednesdays | 3:15–4:30 p.m.
  • Rehearsals are held weekly after school.
  • Students should be picked up promptly at 4:30 p.m. or attend Extended Day (applicable fees apply).

 

Performances

The choir typically sings twice each month at the Cathedral's 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass and participates in additional liturgies, sacramental celebrations, parish events, and special performances throughout the year.

 

Attendance & Commitment

Membership in the Youth Choir is both a privilege and a commitment. Regular attendance at rehearsals and performances is expected. If a student will be absent, families should notify the director in advance by emailing [email protected].

 

Fees & Fundraising

A $20 annual membership fee, along with donations and fundraising efforts, helps support the purchase of music, robes, binders, and other choir materials.

Additional Information

  • A light snack is provided during rehearsals.
  • Choir members are responsible for caring for assigned robes and music throughout the year.
  • Families receive regular email updates with rehearsal schedules, performance dates, and important announcements.
  • Students and parents are asked to review and sign the Youth Choir Participation Agreement at the start of each school year.
