Meet Ms. Haeder

Hi, I’m Valerie Haeder, and I consider myself a lifelong student of life! I am endlessly curious, and that curiosity has taken me to all seven continents, as well as on a voyage to 90 degrees North, aka the North Pole just last summer.

I grew up in the shadow of the four presidents enshrined on Mount Rushmore in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, which helped spark my lifelong passion for history. History was also my major in college, and I love discovering the stories, people, and places that have shaped our world.

As a librarian, it probably comes as no surprise that reading is one of my favorite pursuits. I also enjoy cooking and construction. In fact, I spent a year building houses with Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity, an experience that allowed me to combine hands-on work with a passion for serving others.

I am also the very proud mother of the world’s cutest beagle, Blossom, who was named in honor of the DMV’s famous cherry blossoms!

I am thrilled to join the St. Thomas More Cathedral School community and look forward to sharing my love of learning, reading, history, and discovery with our STM students. I can’t wait to see where our curiosity takes us together!
