Meet Mrs. Amanda Chapman
Hello, my name is Amanda Chapman. I am a literacy specialist and Certified Dyslexia Therapist with experience supporting students, teachers, and school leaders in implementing structured literacy practices. I began my career teaching second-grade language arts and later worked closely with a school principal to help lead a school-wide transition to structured literacy. In that role, I helped strengthen early identification systems, expand intervention supports, and build teacher capacity.
I am excited to join the St. Thomas More Cathedral School family and look forward to supporting students and teachers as we implement Orton-Gillingham practices in the classroom!
Earlier in my career, I worked in international health and supported programs serving vulnerable children and orphans in Africa. These experiences shaped my commitment to thoughtful systems, strong stewardship, and ensuring that every child has access to effective support. As a mother of children with dyslexia, I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to my work.
I am passionate about helping schools create clear, sustainable literacy systems that empower educators and give every child—especially struggling readers—the tools and confidence they need to thrive. I look forward to getting to know the STM community and working together to help every student strive for MORE!
