Called to Serve

Father Barnes was born in Denver, Colorado, and grew up with his twin sister and younger sister. A proud graduate of Paul VI High School, he went on to earn his degree from the University of Virginia in 2007. He later studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia and the Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy, where he earned a Licentiate Degree in Dogmatic Theology.

Father Barnes was ordained to the priesthood on June 8, 2013, right here at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More. Over the years, he has served as Parochial Vicar at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale, St. Mary Catholic Church in Alexandria, and St. Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn. Since 2023, he has been blessed to serve our Cathedral community as both Parochial Vicar and Parochial Administrator.
