Meet Ms. Elizabeth Beaulieu

Hello! My name is Ms. Elizabeth Beaulieu, and I am so happy to be part of the St. Thomas More Cathedral School community! I grew up just outside Syracuse, New York, and moved to Virginia in 2010 to attend Marymount University. I earned my B.A. in Psychology and later returned to Marymount to earn my M.A. in School Counseling.

While I was in college, I had the opportunity to work as a substitute teacher at St. Thomas More, which makes my return to STM especially meaningful! After graduating, I taught 11th- and 12th-grade students college and career skills at a special education school in Washington, D.C. I quickly realized how much I loved teaching, but I knew my heart was in the younger grades. I went on to teach at St. Ambrose Catholic School in Annandale, where my love of learning inspired me to continue my own education. I earned a Master of Education in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University and later returned to Marymount to earn my Special Education Certificate. I am licensed as both a teacher and school counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

This year marks my eleventh year teaching, my tenth year in the Diocese of Arlington, and my seventh year at St. Thomas More. One of my favorite parts of teaching is witnessing that special “light bulb” moment when a student suddenly understands a new concept or experiences a breakthrough in the classroom. Those moments are what make teaching so rewarding!

Outside of school, I enjoy reading, especially nonfiction, and arts and crafts. I am also attempting to learn Spanish, although it is going very slowly! One fun fact about me is that when I was in fourth grade, I wrote to President Bush following the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon—and he wrote me back!

I am so grateful to be part of the STM community and look forward to another wonderful year of learning, growing, and celebrating those special “light bulb” moments with our students!
