Inspiring a Love of Learning from the Very Beginning

My name is Susan Gonzalez Stockton, and I was born in San José, Costa Rica. I earned my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Central University in San José. Educating children has always been my passion, and I feel fortunate to have a career that allows me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners.

I am honored to serve as the Pre-Kindergarten Program Manager and Teacher at St. Thomas More Cathedral School, where I have been part of the community since 2019. Prior to joining the Pre-Kindergarten program, I served as a Kindergarten teacher and taught English as a Second Language. I am passionate about creating a joyful and nurturing classroom environment where children feel confident, supported, and excited to learn.

As a native Spanish speaker, I have had the opportunity to work with students and families in a variety of educational settings. During the 2004–2005 school year, I served as a school-based substitute at Francis Scott Key/Escuela Key Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia, where I supported students and teachers and helped organize a variety of school activities. I have also taught in Alexandria City Public Schools and am qualified to teach in Fairfax County Public Schools.

Pre-Kindergarten is a special time filled with discovery, curiosity, and growth. Children develop not only academically, but also socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I love watching our youngest learners gain confidence, explore the world around them, and experience those exciting moments when something new begins to make sense. It is incredibly rewarding to help children build the skills and confidence they need as they take their first steps on their educational journey.

I am grateful to be part of the St. Thomas More Cathedral School community and look forward to partnering with families as we help our youngest students build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning and faith.
