Inspiring a Love of Learning from the Very Beginning

My name is Susan Gonzalez Stockton, and I was born in San José, Costa Rica. I earned my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Central University in San José. Educating children has always been my passion, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of young learners as they grow academically, socially, and spiritually.

It is a blessing and an honor to serve as the Pre-Kindergarten Program Manager and Teacher at St. Thomas More Cathedral School. This is my second year as Director, and I have previously served as a Kindergarten teacher for two years and a Pre-Kindergarten teacher for six years. In addition, I have taught English as a Second Language.

As a native Spanish speaker, I had the privilege of serving as the school-based substitute at Francis Scott Key/Escuela Key Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia, during the 2004–2005 school year. In that role, I supported students and teachers daily while helping organize a variety of school activities. I have also taught in the Alexandria City Public Schools system and am qualified to teach in Fairfax County Public Schools.

Pre-Kindergarten is an incredible year of discovery and growth. During this special time, children develop not only academically, but also socially, emotionally, physically, and—most importantly—spiritually. I love teaching because it allows me to nurture each child's curiosity, confidence, and love of learning. There is nothing more rewarding than watching young children grow and thrive each day.

I am grateful to be part of the St. Thomas More Cathedral School community and look forward to partnering with families throughout this exciting year. It is a joy to be part of your child's educational journey and to help build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning and faith.
