Meet Mrs. Nancy Meehan

I have been a member of the St. Thomas More Cathedral School faculty since 2001 and currently serve as the middle school consultant for STM. A graduate of Indiana Central University with a bachelor's degree in History and Political Science, I am passionate about helping students discover a love of history, develop strong critical thinking skills, and grow in both knowledge and character. As one of my favorite quotes reminds us, "When you teach what you love, and share what you know, you open eyes, minds, hearts, and souls to unexplored worlds."

Originally from Indiana, I am a proud Hoosier who grew up on a farm with two parents who were both educators. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in administration at the Brookings Institution. After taking time to raise my two children, I began substituting at STM while they were students here. Both of my children—and my husband—are proud graduates of St. Thomas More Cathedral School and Bishop O'Connell High School.

In 2001, I joined the STM faculty part-time teaching Algebra and serving as the Washington, D.C., Title I teacher. The following year, I became a full-time teacher with a sixth-grade homeroom, a role I continue to enjoy today while also serving as Middle School Department Head.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading—especially mysteries—along with cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends playing card and board games. I also enjoy attending sporting events, especially cheering on my students at CYO basketball games, and I love traveling whenever I have the opportunity.

It has been a true blessing to be part of the STM community for more than two decades. I cannot imagine a more rewarding place to teach, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help our students grow academically, spiritually, and personally each day.
