Meet Señora Bonilla

Hola!

My name is Carol Bonilla, and I am delighted to teach Spanish to students in Middle School (grades 6,7 & 8) at St. Thomas More Cathedral School. Originally from Nicaragua, I grew up in Guatemala and have been teaching Spanish at STM since 2004. My connection to the STM community began even earlier, when my children joined the school as students in 2000. Since then, I have had the joy of watching them grow, graduate from college, and begin their careers.

I attended Texas A&M University, where I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. After spending several years working in the corporate world, I discovered my passion for teaching and have loved sharing my language and culture with STM students ever since.

I enjoy finding creative and engaging ways to bring Spanish to life in the classroom. Some of my favorite activities include Conjugation Madness, a restaurant field trip during our food unit, skits, fashion shows, and our annual Spanish Class Lunch, where students bring in a dish from a Spanish-speaking country to share with their classmates.

A Few Fun Facts About Me

  • I love to travel and bring back a souvenir for my office whenever I visit a new city.
  • I am a huge Washington Nationals fan!
  • I discovered a love for puzzles during quarantine.
  • I also learned how to drive a boat!

I look forward to another wonderful year of learning, laughter, and exploring the Spanish-speaking world together!
