Primary & Intermediate Grades (Grades 1–5)
Growing in Faith, Knowledge, and Independence
Students in the primary and intermediate grades build a strong academic foundation while growing in faith, character, and confidence. Following the Curriculum Guidelines of the Diocese of Arlington Catholic Schools, our program challenges students to think critically, communicate effectively, and develop the skills needed for lifelong success.
Core curriculum instruction includes:
- Religion
- Reading
- Language Arts
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
Students also participate in weekly enrichment classes in:
- Fine Arts (Art & Music)
- Spanish
- Library
- Technology
- Physical Education
Building Independence
As students progress through the intermediate grades, they develop greater independence, responsibility, and organizational skills. Teachers guide students in managing assignments, strengthening study habits, and taking ownership of their learning. Learning comes alive through engaging projects and presentations, including:
- Language Arts presentations
- Interactive social studies timelines
- String art in mathematics
- Saints' Hall of Fame religion projects
- Hands-on science investigations
These experiences encourage creativity, collaboration, communication, and deeper understanding across all subject areas.
