Dear Parents,
We are so very lucky…nope, blessed! Last night’s National Junior Honor Society Induction highlighted that for me.
I witnessed the eloquence of an entire class as the eighth graders led our ceremony. Alex F. reminded us of the importance of Scholarship; Sahar H. recited the profit of Service; Sabrina M. and Henrick C. highlighted the importance of Leadership; Madison T. pronounced the merit of Character; and Cole S. spoke with clarity about honorable Citizenship. Nancy M. sang with beauty while Bernadette P. flawlessly accompanied her on the piano. A completely student-led evolution went off without a hitch. And our guest speaker, our Rector, Father Posey, waxed poetically about the value of a sixth pillar that other schools do not include in their NJHS ceremonies–our Faith. Father Posey spoke of principles or standards of behavior, one’s judgment of what is important in life, of the moral code that we Christians live by. It was a great night.
The countdown? Report cards come home on Friday, there are only 12 days of school before break and a little over 3 weeks until Christmas.
