Welcome, Mr. Daneen and Mr. Oliveros!

Mr Patrick Deneen:

I am excited to return to Catholic education after two years training and mentoring missionaries for homeless outreach with Christ in the City (Philadelphia). Before that, I taught philosophy, Latin, biology, history, and P.E. at the Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart and repaired, renovated, and maintained churches and other historic buildings with Heritage Restoration and Design Studios, both in Bl. Fulton Sheen's home city: Peoria, IL (close to my own hometown: Bloomington, IL). I studied African American and Diaspora Studies and Earth and Environmental Sciences at Vanderbilt University and am pursuing a Masters in Education through Pontifex University. Scripture, Thomas Aquinas, John of the Cross, Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange, John Senior, Plato, and Aristotle number among my greatest intellectual and spiritual influences, and I eagerly anticipate sharing my love of reading with the students of St. Thomas More!

Mr. Andrew Oliveros:

My story at St. Thomas More Cathedral School goes all the way back to 2005. I attended STM from kindergarten through eighth grade, forming some of the best memories of my life along the way. From wonderful friendships and meaningful relationships with teachers, some of whom are still here today, to winning a CYO Basketball championship trophy with my eighth-grade classmates, STM will always hold a special place in my heart.

After STM, I attended Bishop O’Connell High School and James Madison University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Arts and Design, with a concentration in Journalism and a minor in Sport Communication. During college, I had the honor of interning as a staff writer for Sports Illustrated, writing articles about several NFL teams, including my hometown favorite, the Washington Commanders. Beyond journalism, I found another home at JMU’s Catholic Campus Ministry, where I built incredible friendships and had the privilege of leading a Bible study for two years. I also currently work as an audio board operator and producer at 106.7 The Fan while also covering the Washington Commanders and Wizards for Roundtable, an online sports publication covering teams across major professional sports leagues.

The fact that I am now back “home,” working at STM, is no accident. It is a true blessing!
