Tech Notes from Mr. Wage:  Creating a Family Technology Agreement

“Who Makes the Rules at Home: Parents, Kids… or the Wi-Fi?”

If “just five more minutes” regularly turns into half an hour, your family may be ready for a simple Family Technology Agreement.

Keep it practical: homework before entertainment, devices away during meals, reasonable limits for gaming and apps, a bedtime for devices, and a plan for what to do if something uncomfortable appears online.

Consistency matters and yes, parents count too. Children notice very quickly when “No phones at dinner” somehow does not include Dad’s phone. 😄 Technology should serve family life, helping children grow in self-control, responsibility, good judgment, and healthy relationships.

Around the Dinner Table:

Try This at Home: Choose three simple family rules this week, for example: devices away at meals, homework before entertainment, and phones outside bedrooms at night.
