RACE FOR EDUCATION: RACING FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY
Goal to replace 9/11 era doors with latest in security advancements
SAFETY & SECURITY: As you know, STM engaged in its second lockdown drill today, and it serves as a reminder that maintaining a safe, secure environment for the children is a core part of our school mission. The exterior doors were updated after September 11 based on the best recommendations available at the time. Technology has improved in the 20+ years since then and, unfortunately, history has shown us that schools must adapt and install barriers in order to secure the building. While the current doors are visually appealing with the 2/3 window, we need to replace them with a solid-style door. Doing so will serve as a deterrent and ensure that they're perceived as an exit rather than an entryway. We all want a safe and secure environment for our kids and it's time to update to the latest safety advancements.
With your support of the Race for Education through your donations and requests to family and friends, we can replace three main exterior doors; start the first phase of interior door replacement; and provide much deserved holiday bonuses to our teachers who are on the frontlines of maintaining a safe, secure environment for STM students.
PROGRESS REPORT! We've raised $35,000, but we still have a long way to go to reach our goal of $85,000. If we hit that milestone, there will be a school-wide dress down day! Donate today!
DONUTS! There's still time to activate your family's Pledgestar account and ask friends/family to donate to the Race for Education. Those who activate between Oct 1-15 will be entered into the $20 Dunkin Donuts gift card drawing!
