Updated Return to School Policy Starting 4/17
STM will update the return to school policy after spring break for when a student has been out with symptoms of illness. Effective Monday April 17, 2023, the following will be required to return to school after an illness-related absence:

1. Student must be fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications. A fever is defined as a temperature above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
AND
2. Student must not have vomited for at least 24 hours without the use of antiemetic medication (such as Zofran).

In the case of certain communicable illnesses, students may be asked to delay their return to school until the window of contagiousness has passed or until antibiotics have had an opportunity to begin working.

Pollen, Pollen, and More Pollen
Spring allergy season is in full swing! If your student has not experienced seasonal allergies in the past but is suddenly complaining of itching eyes, sore throat, stomach ache (typically because of postnasal drip), or runny nose, consider checking in with their healthcare provider to see if they are developing new seasonal allergies and coming up with an appropriate plan to manage them.
