Kids Up Reading Coaches offers an intensive 1-on-1 reading and spelling intervention.
We follow the Science of Reading and emphasize phonological proficiency and phonics, the foundational skills students need in order to become fluent readers and good spellers. I (Daniela Feldhausen) have a master's degree in special ed (mild-moderate disabilities) and am OG (Orton Gillingham)-trained; the other tutors on our team are graduate students in linguistics or speech/language/hearing services and I have trained them to do this work.
We generally work with students three or four times per week, during or after school (weekends optional), to get them caught up to their peers as quickly as possible. Many of the students we work with have been diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia; some also have ADHD, anxiety, etc.
