Curriculum Corner

1/12/2021

As we return to school in the wake of the Omnicron variant, I wanted to take a moment to remind you of our policy should your family need to quarantine or isolate.

While my deepest desire is for our school community to stay well, if you find yourself in the position where your family may need to quarantine or have an extended absence from school, I have the pleasure of helping you navigate the academic portion. You will hear from me ASAP, the goal is within the same day as your quarantine notification. I will ask for 24 hours to ensure that all information is current and that I can give you our absolute best.

What will I do? As Curriculum Coordinator, part of my job this year is to be your main point of contact during extended absences. This is for a few reasons:

  1. It is so much easier to have one point of contact, especially if you have more than one child.
  2. I do not have a class of my own, so I can easily coordinate assignment questions and materials pickup at times that work for all of us.
  3. Your child/ren's teachers are teaching a class, so they cannot respond to your questions or any sort of technical difficulty until they have a planning period. This takes the stress of responding immediately off of them and the stress of waiting for said response off of you--I am happy to find answers for you quickly so you can move on with your day.

Between the school nurse staff, myself, your child’s teachers, and you, STM has a way to keep your child involved if they are healthy enough to participate. Please know that I am here to support YOU and ask that you please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child’s absences. If I do not know the answer, I know where to find the answer for you.

While I hope we will never have to communicate in this way, please know that I will take care of you and your family.

Wishing you health,

Emily Stocker
