Mask Tips and Tricks

Mask Tips and Tricks
Many families have been asking for preferred brands of the clinic for masks, and I will say that all the masks in the clinic are usually those we can get the quickest and fastest from online retailers. Some things that can help a mask get a better fit include making sure you have the correct size for your child, making sure you have bent the nose piece to make a good seal, and twisting or knotting the ear loops to create a closer fit. However, if your student is continuing to struggle with a good fit of their mask, consider using an "ear saver." These exist in a variety of materials and versions and some examples can be found here. These would be compatible with the STM lanyard, and should be in plain, solid colors consistent with the STM uniform guidelines.

It's Flu Vaccine Time!
Experts say that October is a prime time to receive your flu vaccine as it provides optimal coverage for flu season, which traditionally lasts from September through March. Some seasons "hit" earlier than others, so it's a good idea to seek this sooner rather than later. Elsewhere in vaccine news, encouraging updates continue to emerge from the FDA regarding the Covid vaccine for children ages 5-11. Though we do not anticipate Covid vaccines being required of students at STM, we are hopeful that many families will seek guidance from their health care providers about getting their students vaccinated when the vaccine becomes available.
