CYO Basketball Update

At this time, we do NOT yet have official word that we will be able to have a regular basketball season this winter. CYO at the Diocese level is still reviewing circumstances, not only as related to COVID precautions and mitigation but also in terms of gym availability across all of the teams.

While we await the greenlight, it would be good to get the planning process underway with the fervent hope that we do indeed get to play. To that end, please notify CYO Commissioner Lucia Loveland with interest of both your child(ren) to play and with parent interest to coach.

Student athletes in grades 3-8 are eligible to participate in the CYO program. Basketball teams require a minimum of 8 players with a maximum of 15 players. Once we reach 16 players, we will need to split the group into two teams. Tryouts are not held - all are welcome and encouraged to play, regardless of skill or experience!

We need Head and Assistant Coaches for the 5th grade girls' team, the 6th grade boys' team and the 8th grade girls' teams. While we do have new or returning coaches assigned for the other teams, if you have an interest in helping out, please let Lucia know. You must have completed the VIRTUS compliance requirement prior to the start of the season (which typically gets underway in early November).

Please email Lucia at [email protected] to let her know if your child(ren) would be interested in playing, or if you are interested in coaching. NOTE: we are simply gauging interest at this time. This is not a commitment to play, nor is this in any way a confirmation that we will be having a regular season. Please provide your child(ren)'s name(s) and grade(s) when you send your email.

GO ROYALS!
