1. Reflect on the main theme of the short story and include your thoughts in your reflection.
2. Cite evidence from the short story to support your viewpoint.
3. Your reflections must be clear and decisive and connected to the short story.
4. Your reflection should reflect what the character learned from the story.
5. You should have a minimum of 350 words.

Create seven slides.
Slide 1 - Title slide with your name and a picture.
Slides 2- 4- Insults plus a picture that goes with the insult
Slides 5-7- Compliments plus a picture that goes with the compliment.
Remember to include one word from each column in the handout.
Cite any pictures that you use.

Write a 350 -word three-paragraph about your eighth-grade year highlights. Choose a theme to build your essay around. For example, you could write about one class, lunch/recess, clubs, sports, etc. Use concrete language. Vary your sentence structure. Start your introduction with a noun, adverb, or adjective phrase. Use concrete verbs and words.

Every year the Knights of Columbus sponsor a scholarship essay contest. The scholarship award is $500 sent to the Catholic high school where the student will attend. This year's topic is "Why is Saint Joseph the patron saint of the universal church ?" Students will turn the essays in on Google classroom and I will forward them to the Knight committee. Essays should be in a three-paragraph format and 500-750 words. The award will be given at the graduation.


An extra credit grade will be given to all participants in Language Arts.

1. Read each of the ten sonnets in the handout. 
2. Choose three sonnets to copy and then write a modern translation next to the Shakesperean version. 
3. You must have fourteen lines for each sonnet following the rhyming pattern.
4. This assignment must be in a google slide format. The first slide is your title slide with your name and a picture.
5. Each slide must have the original Shakespeareantitle and words and Modern translation.
6.  Each slide must also have a symbol or picture. 
7. This is a class assignment and we will work on it during class next week.
8. Do not plagiarize.
