Curriculum

Hello! My name is Emily Stocker and I feel both privileged and humbled to support teachers and students in curriculum development. I have been a part of the St. Thomas More community since 2009, in which I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Seventh Grade Reading and Technology from Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Previously, I taught Kindergarten for two years at St. Ann Catholic School in Charlotte, NC.

My commitment to STM is two-fold: as staff and as a parent. My husband and I have three daughters, two of whom currently attend STM. The third will join next year, when she ready for Pre-K. I came to STM because of it's mission to reach all learners and help them fulfill their true spiritual, academic, social, and emotional potential. I feel blessed to be a part of the team that works towards this goal.

I am especially blessed this year to work with the Seventh Grade as one of the Reading Teachers, leading the Kwame Alexander reading class.

My particular duties as Curriculum Coordinator include monitoring the curriculum lessons from Pre-Kindergarten all the way through Eighth Grade to ensure that we are, as a school, fulfilling our mission. In addition to researching the new and best practices, I will also have the opportunity to act as an instructional coach for our STM teachers in the traditions and practices that have made us such a successful place for children! While what I do from day to day may vary, I can guarantee that I will always be looking for ways to encourage the teachers (and by proxy, the students), to ensure quality materials are purchased and used, to research new (and old) methodologies and how they may help our students, and to provide support to anyone who needs me while at school.
