A word from the teachers about Third Grade…..
While building a community of learners, we guide students to develop a strong prayer life, understanding the fullness of the Catholic faith through the study of the Blessed Trinity, the Sacraments, Ten Commandments, and service to our church and community. In reading and language arts, students’ needs are met through small guided reading groups, and writers’ workshop. Students write personal letters, publish books, present poems, give book talks, and host Authors’ Teas throughout the year to share their writing with their parents and the school community. In math, students master key math concepts by continually revisiting content in a variety of contexts while connecting abstract concepts to the world outside the classroom. In social studies the students explore the regions of the United States, the fifty states and capitals, the branches of the government, and current events; while in science, students perform experiments to understand the make-up of simple machines, how animals respond to changes and conditions in their respective environments, and the effects of force on various objects.
