The Science Seed™: planting a love of science. Children are natural scientists; curious and full of the desire to observe and explore. Preschool and early elementary are the perfect times to start a lifelong love of science by introducing students to basic concepts. The Science Seed™ teaches geology, chemistry, biology, physics, nature and nutrition in fun, interactive and age-appropriate ways. Each class includes a handout for parents describing the topic explored that day and how to expand on it at home. Students will bring home on the last day their science journal, a record of their learning experience. Educational Theatre Company - Incredible Improv!
Calling all silly kids! The Educational Theatre Company is back this winter with a new twist! In just 8 weeks we will create our own short play! The younger students will be guided through writing their own lines, creating a plot, developing driven characters, and interesting settings, and will be directed by their Middle School classmates, the Directors in Training, who will also be acting as well! ETC’s Ashley Hammond will lead the fun while students learn ensemble skills, play development, improvisation, basic acting skills and how to work with kids of all different ages! Family and friends are invited on the last day to see our creation.
Back to Basics
Our programs help the Internet Generation rediscover the simple pleasures of human interaction, ignite their passion for learning, think outside the box using powerful and fundamental tools such as life skills, social dance and manners. The program prepares students for social, college and career opportunities and minimizes disruptive behavior in the class room and at home.

Students will have the opportunity to play in local, state and national tournaments. All chess supplies provided. For more information, see our website at www.silverknightschess.com.
Creativity on Fire

In th ceramics and glass enrichment program, students make 10 projects (one project per month). All projects require kiln firing and are returned to the school after one week.
For paint-your-own-pottery, students learn about glaze application and make 5 paint-your-own pottery projects. In the two slip-casting project, students learn about slip, which is watered-down clay that is poured into molds to make pottery. Students pour slip into molds, learn how greenware is cleaned, and paint their own "bisqued" ceramics. For the three fused-glass projects, students learn how to combine translucent and opal glass to get colorful results. For project descriptions and to see samples, please check out http://www.creativityonfirestudio.com for more information.

Robotics
WeDo Robotics (Grades K - 2)
This class is a great introduction to robotics for lower-elementary students using LEGO Education WeDo Robotics Construction Set. Students will learn to build and program robots using the WeDo "drag and drop" programming software. Projects include creating an alligator that snaps its mouth shut (using motion sensors) and building an airplane that plays different sounds as you move it (using a tilt sensor).
Competitive Robotics (Grades 3-6)
This is an introduction to competitive robotics for older elementary students through a fun and engaging curriculum. Activities include races, obstacle courses, mazes and combat. Small teams of students compete with other teams to design, build, program and "coach" the winning Lego Mindstorm NXT robot for each event. The course helps prepare students for robotics competitions such as FLL.
