Congratulations!

The CYO basketball season came to an end this past weekend.  The final dribbles and made baskets are all memories until next fall, when it starts all over again.

Heading into the final weekend both our 6th grade and 5th grade girl's teams remained in the mix to win their respective tournament.  The 6th grade team ran into 2 surging teams over the weekend and couldn't get past their hot shooting.  They finished in 4th place for the tournament however, they were awarded their division sportsmanship award.  This award is voted on by the other coaches in the division and takes into account the players, coach(s) and fans.  This is an awesome award for Coach Sean Meehan and his players to present to the school.

The 5th grade girls advanced into the DII Championship game where they battled a very strong opponent for a full 28 minutes.  After several lead changes, in a total team effort, they able to pull away late in the second half to capture the Division II Tournament Championship by a 26 - 20 margin. The game allowed this team to complete the season undefeated at 13 - 0.  A milestone only reached by four other STM teams in recent history.  The team was coached by Jack McCreery and Michael Paul.

The CYO basketball season spans over several months.  Our program couldn't be as strong as it is unless we had wonderful volunteer coaches.  They put in countless hours for all the kids across grades 4th - 8th.  A heartfelt thanks goes out to each one!
