Advanced Literacy Library Receives $4,000 Gift The St. Thomas More Development Committee is pleased to announce that on Monday, February 22, 2010, it presented Mrs. O'Rourke with $4,000 to help expand the school's Advanced Literacy Library. These funds came from gifts made by the families, faculty and friends of St. Thomas More to the school's Annual Appeal. October 2009 Dear Friends, We are pleased to report that last year St. Thomas More Cathedral School continued the traditions which earned it Blue Ribbon standing for academic excellence. STM students’ reading and math scores were again among the top ten percent in the nation, our Class of 2009 was offered nearly $100,000 in academic scholarships, and at a time when many Catholic schools are faced with enrollment challenges, our student body continued to grow. We are very proud of these achievements, and could not have done this without your generous support. Thank you. Our challenge - to continue to build upon this level of excellence - continues. This challenge is made even greater this year by the economy and events at STM and the Cathedral. In addition to the increased demands the economy has placed on our tuition assistance program, last year’s library flood and Burke Hall fire have put additional strain on both the school’s and the parish’s resources. This means that now, more than ever, we need your support. This year’s Annual Fund will allow us to accomplish three crucial objectives: (1) to fund our tuition assistance program, ensuring that every child has access to a Catholic school education; (2) to expand our Advanced Literacy Library, so that every child may experience the love of reading; and (3) to fund our advanced study grant, so that teachers can continue to grow professionally and incorporate advanced learning tools into our classrooms. As you know, the ongoing work of nurturing faith, academic excellence, and promoting service requires funding. May we have your help again this year?
