Pre-Kindergarten

"Education is not the piling on of learning, information, data, facts, skills, or abilities - that's training or instruction - but is rather making visible what is hidden as a seed." St. Thomas More

Our Pre-Kindergarten Program fosters joy in discovery and learning in a Catholic environment that nurtures the whole child in the areas of spiritual, social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.

Parental Involvement

Parents are encouraged to participate in their child's preschool experience. There will be various opportunities to share your time and talent with your child's class.

Prior to joining the St. Thomas More Cathedral School faculty in August of 2008 as Preschool Director, Mrs. Landry served as an early childhood educator in the Arlington diocese for 13 years, teaching second grade, first grade, kindergarten, preschool and working as a resource teacher.  Mrs. Landry’s great interest in Dr. Maria Montessori’s work with young children and Mrs. Landry’s desire to explore ways in which Dr. Montessori’s methods could be integrated into a traditional kindergarten and preschool program, motivated her to take a “sabbatical” to study the work of Dr. Maria Montessori during the 2007-2008 school year.  Mrs. Landry completed the required academic coursework and internship at the Northern Virginia Montessori Institute in Ashburn, Virginia, and earned her credential as a primary level Montessori teacher in July, 2008.
