2. VIRGINIA READERS' CHOICE PROGRAM (Entire School)

Dear Students of STM:

Looking for some great new books to read over the summer? Look no further! STM will be participating in the Virginia Readers’ Choice program next year.

The stated purpose the Virginia Readers’ Choice program is:*

to encourage young readers to become better acquainted with contemporary books with outstanding literary appeal
to broaden students' awareness of literature as a life-long pleasure
to encourage reading aloud in classrooms as a means of introducing reading for pleasure
to honor favorite books and their author

We will read the listed books for the Primary category in the library next year. For all other students I plan to introduce the books to you in library but I am encouraging you to start reading these over the summer so that we can vote on our favorites.

This is not mandatory but a suggestion for you and your parents.

Please let me know how you like these books and plan to bring a list of your favorite books to the library next year.
